A Dermatologist-Recommended Skincare Routine for a Healthy Barrier

The “skin barrier” has become an extremely popular term over the last several months. Our skin barrier, the outermost layer of the body which you see and touch every day, is our protective shield to the outside world. Its health is essential, both to keep skin issues in check and to have a beautiful complexion. The skin barrier is comprised of corneocytes, which are skin cells that are sealed together by the lipid layer. The lipid layer contains fatty acids, ceramides and cholesterol. The combination of the corneocytes and lipid layer serve as the skin barrier to protect our body from physical and chemical infiltration such as harmful UV rays, pollutants in the environment, allergens, bacteria that may cause infection, etc. The structure of the skin barrier also helps to prevent water loss from the skin and allows for optimal hydration to keep our skin feeling and appearing healthy. When the skin barrier is compromised the skin may feel rough and dry, and it may be prone to infections, allergic reactions, redness, and other inflammatory dermatologic conditions. Lifestyle factors such as poor sleeping habits, exposure to overly hot water, smoking, and stress, can also contribute to damaging the skin barrier.

To help my barrier thrive and remain intact, my skincare routine contains four Epionce products. They each cater to a specific barrier need, making them my go-to choices and recommendations for supporting radiant and healthy skin.

A Must-Try Cleanser For Daily Rejuvenation

Epionce’s Lytic Gel Cleanser is my go-to for washing away daily impurities. The refreshing gel formula, infused with salicylic acid and willow bark extract, gently exfoliates while maintaining the skin’s natural moisture balance. Leaving my skin feeling rejuvenated and ready for the day, it’s the first essential step in my skincare routine and a favorite end-of-day cleanser too.

Pesky Blemishes Be Gone

When visible blemishes just start to make an unwelcome appearance on my face, Epionce’s Purifying Spot Gel swiftly takes center stage. Packed with botanical ingredients like spearmint oil and menthol, this spot treatment provides targeted relief without over-drying. Its precision applicator ensures that I can address imperfections with accuracy, helping to minimize their appearance and promote a smoother complexion.

For The Face, A Visible Boost of Hydration

For an indulgent treat, Epionce’s Enriched Firming Mask takes self-care to the next level. This luxuriously rich mask contains a blend of botanicals, including meadowfoam extract and shea butter, to deeply nourish and rejuvenate the skin. After each use, my skin feels firmer, smoother, and incredibly hydrated. It’s my secret weapon for a spa-like experience in the comfort of my own home.

For The Body, Intense Hydration To Soften and Smooth

Extending the pampering beyond my face, Epionce’s Enriched Body Cream has become a staple in my skin barrier care routine. Its velvety texture, enriched with safflower and avocado oils, provides intense hydration without a greasy feel. The subtle fragrance is a delightful bonus, leaving my skin silky-smooth and subtly scented. It’s a must-have for maintaining overall skin health and radiance.

As a board-certified dermatologist, I believe a simple, streamlined routine of gentle yet effective products can be transformative for your barrier. From cleansing and spot treatments to hydration for the whole body, Epionce creates award-winning barrier-nurturing products. It’s a trusted and recommended line used by professionals across the country.
